QARC winners display asphalt’s versatility in residential and commercial projects

The Asphalt Roofing Manufacturers Association (ARMA) is proud to announce the winners of its 2nd annual Quality Asphalt Roofing Case-Study (QARC) Awards Program.

Showcasing the versatility of asphaltic roofing materials, this year’s winning contractors have once again raised the B.A.R. by creating North America’s most Beautiful, Affordable and Reliable asphaltic roofing systems.  Trending design, challenging craftsmanship and impressive scale caught the judges’ eyes as two residential and one commercial project took home the top prizes.

QARC is the only national awards program in the country that recognizes outstanding new commercial and residential asphaltic roofing projects.

“People who work with asphalt roofing products take pride in their craft,” said ARMA’s Executive Vice President, Reed Hitchcock. “ARMA launched this program in 2010 as a way of honoring those hardworking roofing professionals who create innovative and extraordinary asphalt roofing systems for the residential and commercial markets.”

This year’s submissions covered a wide range of commercial buildings and residential homes. The 2011 recipients are:

In its second year, the QARC program saw a remarkable 50 percent increase in the number of project submissions.

“The program is still relatively new in the industry but judging by this year’s overwhelming response, it promises to have a bright future,” added Hitchcock. “Too often, asphalt roofing is overlooked or taken for granted but through our awards program we aim to feature these projects in the spotlight.”

The top three winners receive a check from ARMA in the amounts of $2,000, $1,000 and $500 and will have their projects featured on the QARC website.

All of the projects showcased either how different asphalt shingle textures, styles and colors can transform a home, or how they highlighted the durability, performance and adaptability of asphalt low-slope systems for commercial buildings. Unique aesthetics, energy efficiency, durability and safety were important factors in the judging criteria.

ARMA is now accepting submissions for the 2012 awards campaign.  For more information about the QARC program or if you would like to submit a project, please visit our QARC information page.
